Attack type and Pokémon type are different
Effectiveness is determined by the move's type against the defender's type or types. A Pokémon can carry a move that does not match its own type, although matching attacks may receive a same-type attack bonus.
Dual types multiply together
When both defending types share a weakness, the result is a 2.56× double weakness. A resistance on one type can offset a weakness on the other.
Common questions
Are Pokémon GO multipliers the same as the main games?
No. Pokémon GO uses its own damage multipliers, so this chart is tuned specifically for Pokémon GO.
What does 0.391× mean?
It is a double resistance: both defending types resist the incoming move type.
